I feel like these past two trimesters have gone quite well or me. Not only have I definitely improved my writing skills, I have made many friends in my class. At the beginning of the school year, I had trouble writing even a 400 word article, now that I have had this class I am able to write a good 600 work article in one day. I wish that I wouldn’t procrastinate as much as I do, I wish I would be able to time myself and get specific amounts of articles done a week. Overall, I think that I have done very well in this class and I am enjoying it!
While I am mostly writing in this class, I have to interview people to get the information I need to write about what I want. I have learned good interviewing skills that will definitely help me in the future, weather I’m the one interviewing, or I’m getting interviewed. Its a nice life skill to have.
One of my first ever articles, I interviewed my schools new superintendent. It was my first ever interview, and it being with him, I was nervous. I was told that usually interviews last about 10 minutes, but that interview lasted almost 40 minutes. It went so well, I was very proud of the outcome and the responses I had gotten. No interview since then could even compare. The bar was definitely set high, and Mr. Rittenhouse, if you’re reading this, thank you.
Newspaper has really helped me gain more experience in my writing ability as well as my interviewing ability. I am so glad that I am able to write so much better than before, because obviously writing is very important in everyones everyday life. I feel much more confident when emailing a teacher because of what I have leared and practiced in newspaper!
Not only have I gotten better at interviewing and writing, but my typing skills have improved much much more than before this class. I can now type with my eyes closed or looking at the screen, as I’m doing right now typing this!
My goal for the next trimester is to get every article done on time, and get more than 80% published!
